This oil painting can be seen in my current exhibition at Bank Street Gallery, Kirriemuir (which runs until 25/9/15).
This is a second, larger version of a composition I have already executed. Usually it is simple curiosity which leads me to do a repeat version of a painting; "I wonder how that would look on a bigger scale". A larger painting can be more immersive for the viewer. Here I enjoyed having the space to work up the intricate tracery of snow-covered branches.
This is actually a painting full of colour even though at a first glance the scene looks monochrome.
